Hey readers, In this post  we will share you how to fix “Failed to establish the VPN connection. This may be caused by a mismatch in the TLS version. Please check the TLS version settings in the Advanced of the Internet options:- (5029)” error that comes in windows 10 or windows 7 while connecting to VPN. This error generally happens because of the TLS mismatch in the windows machine or client machine.

How to Fix Forticlient TLS ‘error 5029’: failed to establish the VPN connection ?

Step1. Go to Internet Explorer.

Step2. Now search for setting and  then select internet option/properties.

OR

Open run box and type “inetcpl.cpl”

Step3. Select Advanced tab.

Failed to establish the VPN connection. This may be caused by a mismatch in the TLS version.

Step4. Scroll down, in the security section, tick TLS Version i.e  TLS 1.0, use TLS 1.1, use TLS 1.2.

Step5. That’s it do Apply and OK

Note:- if above steps are not resolved your issue then you have to contact with your IT Team.

Below configuration is for IT Team

Login to FortiGate Firewall check the output below.

(settings) # sh ful
# config vpn ssl settings
    set reqclientcert disable
    set ssl-max-proto-ver tls1-1
    set ssl-min-proto-ver tls1-0
Verify the TLS settings configured on FortiGate end as well as the TLS settings on the client end.
